 A melodrama within a melodrama
By Rick Artis |
| June 12, 13, 19, and 20 |
| Description
A young woman, Katie Preston, brings a world of troubles into the rehearsal hall where she is the heroine of a melodrama. The other cast members play within her personal melodrama with little recognition of the parallels between her world and the plot of the play.
Synopsis
The stage manager, Randi, provides a glimpse into each of the characters as they prepare for the evening's rehearsal. The director, Roscoe the Ratbag, is as mean as his nickname implies. Cal has replaced "he whose name shall not be mentioned" as the villain, but is having trouble getting up to speed with the script and opening night is rapidly approaching. The hero, Jack hints about having feelings for Katie, but doesn't want to intrude into the relationship she already has going. Natalie, Katie's true friend on the set, attempts to help get Katie's life in order. But Katie's relationship continues to sour, as does her working relationship with Roscoe. Monica, Katie's real world rival, doesn't help the situation by increasing her criticism and pima donna attitude. Sparks fly as the true nature of the Katie/Roscoe relationship unfolds. In his anger, Roscoe quits the show, leaving it up to Randi to pull things together and save the day.

A parody of the 1939 Best Picture Oscar Winner
A delightful farce set in the antebellum south during the Civil War.
Synopsis
Our heroine, Snarlett O'Hernia, wends and weds her way through the antebellum South as the Civil War rages. Distraught over the wedding of her true love, Paisley Whelps, to his 3rd cousin twice removed or is it his 2nd cousin thrice removed, Snarlett marries the first man she sees, Charles Hankypank, who immediately meets a tragic demise. Spurning the advances of the slightly 'off', okra plantation heir, "Cap'n" Rhetch Bumbler, Snarlett shares the Atlanta home with Paisley's wife, Meddling. The arrival of the Whelps' first child, with the help of the house servant, Pristine, coupled with the arrival of the Union Army, prompts a trip back to the O'Hernia plantation, TerraBelle. Finding her parents dead and taxes due, Snarlett marries the first man she sees, Frank Hankypank (Charles' twin brother), who immediately meets a tragic demise. Needing money to save her family home, Snarlett visits, Rhetch in jail and reluctantly agrees to marry him. Their marriage is very soon blessed with the arrival of their first "child", Bunnie Black Bumbler, who turns out to be a corn cob doll. Unable to cope with his new wife, Rhetch leaves her in the doorway, with his famous line, almost.
